Fort Harrison Inn

I had the pleasure of going on a walk with my newly discovered DNA 2x cousin, and it felt like a magical journey. The bond we were building made everything seem more lovely, especially as we explored the charming cabin and wandered through the enchanting halls of this beautiful hotel. Nearby, there was a quaint gift shop, a reminder of the warmth and uniqueness of family, all of this just moments away from my oldest or second oldest first cousin. It was a special reminder of the importance of family bonds.

This is our 4th time staying here and we still love it. A beautiful building in what seems like a secluded location but which is actually close to shops and dining. The rooms are excellent, very comfortable and well-appointed, especially for the price. The staff are very helpful and courteous. I was a little disappointed in the lobby breakfast this time, which is adequate but doesn't seem to have the variety it once had. The park restaurant is about a block away from the hotel and is open for lunch. It's very good, if a tad bit expensive.

I went to Indianapolis this past week and decided to stay at the Fort Harrison Inn. I had the King bed with sun porch room. Room 220. The bed is a standard flippable mattress so it is not a plush mattress. I like a harder bed so that was fine. It was quiet and wonderful to be able to read in the morning with plenty of Natural light. I don't watch TV so the TV was not of interest to me. There is no closet but a beautiful antique Dresser/ Wardrobe with plenty of room for your clothes. There are three chairs to sit in. There is another TV in the sunroom that's a little bit smaller in size. The bathroom was lovely and had not just a regular shower but also enough room for a body shower as well. The shower valve is American Standard pressure balanced so if you don't know how to work it have the staff show you how. THIS HOTEL IS QUIET. If You're an older person like I am, You will like the quiet. There are trails that you can walk. The Thai restaurant on the corner of Otis Avenue right up the street is FANTASTIC, with 3 generations of family working there. We ate there twice. Cafe Audrey which is right there on the base just a block from the Thai restaurant was also excellent. The staff was Wonderful (shout out to Misty) and the breakfast in the morning was good, and satisfying. Coffee was delicious. This is the kind of place you go If you like quiet and want to sit and rock on the front porch and read you can do that. They have a nice library with a bright light if you want to read in the library. This is an old hotel that has a lot of charm. I also was there during the heat wave where temperatures got up to 110° and there was no loss of air conditioning. My only complaint is that I wish people would learn how to shut a door quietly and that goes for ANY hotel. People walk out of the door and the door slams and you can hear it slamming for two floors. This is not the Hotel's fault. It's the lack of consideration in our country now. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay in Indianapolis, I would highly recommend this! Planning to come back in the fall!
